![]() The relationship EA Sports has with FIFA players is one of the most toxic in gaming for such a popular series. I’ll be looking at Community Engagement, Game Modes, Gameplay, Licensing and Visuals when comparing the 2 series. EA Sports and FIFA have continued on with a full launch of FIFA 21, which will be getting a next gen upgrade on Dec 4th 2020. Possibly fearing history repeating itself, the team at Konami have taken a year out and only released a “season update” for the 20/21 season, so that they can focus their efforts on their big next-gen launch of PES 2022 on the new Unreal Engine 5. FIFA skyrocketed and PES plummeted and failed to innovate and adapt to the new consoles. PES 6 is often referred to as one of the greatest football games ever but it all went wrong in the transition from that generation to the next. During the PS2/Xbox era of gaming however, there were many that would argue PES was the better game. ![]() BackgroundįIFA has always been the better seller, largely due to the benefits the series has with it’s licensing and budget. ![]() ![]() I’ve decided to have a look back at and compare both of these series over the last gaming generation. “Do you play FIFA or PES?” It’s quite a controversial topic at times with fans of both titles often very passionate in their defences. For all football fans, when it comes to gaming there’s always one question that is asked.
